Navratri – Day1

During Navratri, the Goddess Durga, or the mother goddess, is worshipped in each of her nine forms. Each day has its significance and a ritual associated with it.

Day-1 or Pratipada is the word for “first”, and is the first day in the lunar fortnight (Paksha) of the Hindu calendar, It marks the beginning of Navrathri. The goddess is worshipped on this day as Shailputri, an incarnation of the Goddess Parvati(‘Daughter of the Mountain’)

After the self-immolation as Goddess Sati, Goddess Parvati took birth as the daughter of Lord Himalaya.
